Bartender Job Description

Reports to:  General Manager/Operations Managers

Summary of Position: 

The primary responsibility of a Bartender is to provide our guests with the finest food and drink, accompanied by attentive and gracious service. A professional Bartender will be thoroughly familiar with the product, table service, cash control, proper merchandising and sales techniques. We encourage you to project your own personality, talk to your guests and enjoy yourself while working.

You will be required to successfully complete the bartender and server training programs before you are scheduled for regular shifts. Any questions about the job responsibilities of a bartender should be addressed during the training process.

As a bartender, you will also be expected to maintain the high standards that are set forth in the training program. Your job skills will be evaluated periodically to provide you with feedback of your performance.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner.
  • Prepare bar for service tables, condiments, utensils, candles.
  • Protect establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety and alcohol beverage policies.
  • Retain and utilize the sequence of service as outlined by Murray Bros. Caddyshack.
  • Score 95% or better on menu item recognition test.
  • Maintain a 95% or higher rating with the Bevinco bar inventory control system.
  • Knowledgeable about the products we offer and be specific and descriptive when selling our products.
  • Help patrons select food and beverages by presenting menu, offering suggestions, explaining specials, upselling, check-building and answering food preparation questions.
  • Transmit orders to kitchen correctly using the POS system and inform kitchen of special dietary needs and special requests.
  • Serves orders by picking up and delivering guest's choices from kitchen; delivering accompaniments and condiments.
  • Maintain table setting by removing completed courses, replenishing utensils, refilling drinks and being attentive to guest's needs.
  • Accurately maintain open guest tabs.
  • After service, issue an accurate receipt to guest in a check presenter, accept payments and return change or credit card slip to guest.
  • Conclude the guest's experience by acknowledging choice of restaurant and inviting guests to return.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area that is presentable to the guests at all times.
  • Perform side duties including, but not limited to refilling condiments, cleaning and restocking duties specific to bartender department.
  • Adhere to the cash handling and reconciliation procedures in accordance with restaurant policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to grooming and appearance standards as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Carry out instructions given out by direct supervisor.
  • Always adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the team effort and treat others the way you would like to be treated.



  • Customer service oriented.
  • Previous restaurant and/or sales experience is preferred
  • Possess general math skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be multi-task oriented, able to work under stress and exercises good judgement when dealing with guests and/or employee situations and concerns.
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop, lift heavy items as necessary.
  • Contribute to the team effort and treat others as you would like to be treated.
  • Must have exceptional hygiene and grooming habits.
  • Must consent to a credit, DMV and criminal background check.
